Dental crown – CEREC
What is a dental crown?
A dental crown is a fixed prosthesis that partially or completely covers the tooth to strengthen a damaged tooth, or simply to improve its aesthetics. This treatment may be necessary when too much of a tooth’s surface is damaged, when a tooth is deteriorating and losing strength, following root canal treatment, or when decay occupies a very large part of a tooth. There are several techniques for making crowns, but CEREC technology is undoubtedly the most innovative!
Why choose CEREC technology?
CEREC is a German technology that has proven itself worldwide for over twenty-five years. The acronym CEREC stands for “Chairside Economical Restorations of Esthetic Ceramic”. Unlike conventional procedures, this technology uses a product that contains no harmful metals: ceramic. The device enables dentists to manufacture ceramic dental crowns that adhere perfectly to your teeth, thus limiting the possibility of fracture. Because ceramic mimics the natural appearance of your teeth and has enamel-like characteristics, it helps to strengthen teeth and restore their original shape.
The good news is that you can enjoy state-of-the-art dental treatment for the same cost as a laboratory-made restoration, without having to return for a second visit.
In fact, it’s no longer necessary for the customer to make two appointments and have a temporary crown while the permanent crown is fabricated in the laboratory, as it used to be. Thanks to your Fortin Poirier dentist and his CEREC technology, you’ll get a comfortable, long-lasting, natural-looking crown, all in the same day! The whole process is fast and reliable.
What’s the procedure?
Installing a dental crown has never been simpler, easier or faster. It’s all done in a single appointment. When you arrive, your Fortin Poirier dentist will prepare your tooth for crown installation. He or she will then take a digital impression of your tooth, using a 3D camera connected to a computer. You’ll then be able to watch the restoration and fabrication process in 3D animation. Your dental crown will be ready in just a few minutes, and your dentist can then proceed with installation and polishing. With CEREC, you save time and money, as everything is done in just one visit!
