Dental emergency
What to do if I have an emergency?
First of all, rest assured that we are here for our patients.
If you have pain, swelling or any other concern about your teeth or mouth, don’t hesitate!
Just call the clinic, leave a message on the voice mail, tell us your problem and who your dentist is and the dentist himself will call you back!
Depending on the emergency, the dentist will be able to tell you what to do and guide you.
We take our messages regularly on the voice mail, so you will have a return in 24 hours or even less, from Monday to Friday. If you want an immediate response or if it’s the weekend, it’s Laval’s dental emergency that takes over, so you must call them at 450-669-9999.
What is considered an emergency?
The emergencies that we manage are the following:
- Major infection
- Severe pain not relieved by medication
- Trauma
- Prolonged bleeding
- Medically required dental treatment before medical surgery

What do I do if I lose a filling?
If the tooth does not hurt, we advise you to avoid chewing on this tooth while eating on the other side. It is important to keep the hole clean by cleaning the tooth and the hole with your toothbrush. You can dislodge the food that has accumulated in the hole with a toothpick, going gently.
If your tongue still tends to go into the hole, you can always place a SUGAR-FREE chewing gum in the hole to plug the cavity.
What do I do if my crown comes off?
We recommend that you put it back in place using poligrip or fixodent type denture adhesive found in pharmacies. You just have to put a good quantity of it inside the crown with a Qtip.
However, we advise you to remove it at bedtime to avoid the risk of swallowing it.
What to do if my teeth are sensitive to cold?
We suggest that you limit your intake of food or cold liquids and brush with a sensitive tooth paste such as Sensodyne Fast Action or Colgate Pro Relief and apply it on the sensitive tooth root.
It is very important not to spit, rinse, eat or drink for 30 minutes after the procedure.
We also advise you to limit acidic fruits like citrus fruits and vinegar-based dressings like balsamic vinegar.
What if my tooth hurts when I chew?
We then advise you to eat on the other side to avoid the tooth that hurts and to opt for softer food until we are able to assess your tooth.
If the pain becomes very severe or if it wakes you up at night, call us.
What to do if I have a broken tooth?
For a broken tooth that causes irritation to the tongue or cheek, you can use a clean fingernail file that has been cleaned with rubbing alcohol. File the portion of the tooth that is irritating. If you are unable to do so, call us.
What should I do if I have a toothache?
If it is a widespread pain, which does not wake up at night, we advise you to take 500 mg of Tylenol every 4 to 6 hours.
If it is a pain that prevents you from sleeping, we advise you to call us at the clinic, leave us a message and your dentist will tell you what to do or take by evaluating your situation with various questions.

How do I pay a balance due to the clinic?
We invite you to leave a message on the voice mail and we will get in touch with you. A member of our staff will be able to take your payment by phone or via bank transfer.

What if I received an insurance check in the name of the dentist?
We ask you to send it to us by mail please.
